Aortic Dissection Awareness Day Event
We are so excited that Dr. Dianna M. Milewicz, M.D., Ph.D. will be our keynote speaker at our survivor luncheon on September 19th at the Sentara Heart Hospital 600 Gresham Drive, Norfolk Virginia 23507. She will speak with survivors and share with them new research and other news about her work.
Dr. Milewicz is the President George H.W. Bush Chair of Cardiovascular Medicine, Director of the Division of Medical Genetics and Vice-Chair of the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston.
She completed her postgraduate training in internal medicine, specialized further in medical genetics, and forged a career in translational studies focused on genetic predisposition to vascular diseases.
She has received numerous honors and awards for her research, including the Antoine Marfan Award, the Doris Duke Distinguished Clinical Scientist Award, and the University of Texas Presidential Scholars Award for Excellence in Research.
She has been inducted into the American Society of Clinical Investigation and the Association of American Physicians. Dr. Milewicz has been the Director of the M.D./Ph.D. Program offered jointly between the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and MD Anderson Cancer Center institutions for over 10 years and is Chair of the GREAT MD/PhD Section Committee.
What survivors love about her is she is a very passionate researcher and advocate for vascular disease. We’re so happy that she is dedicated to the research of aortic diseases. We hope you as a survivor of an aortic disease you will join us for survivor luncheon portion of this free event.
We’ll provide lunch during this presentation for 30 survivors and seats are going quickly.
We will provide free Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) screenings provided by Hampton Roads Ultra Sound, LLC. You will be able to call their office and they will handle everything from there.
We’re always excited about being able to provide this service with the help of our friends at Hampton Roads Ultrasound llc. It is part of our mission and screenings can help save lives.

Schedule of activities for the day:
7:00 am – 8:00 am Cardiac Grand Rounds.
10:30 am – 1:30 pm Community Fair in the Heart Hospital Lobby.
12:00 pm – 1:30 pm Survivor Luncheon in the conference room with Dr. Milewicz as Keynote Speaker
